Facilities

Westminster is a handicap accessible building. An elevator lift gives access to all levels of the church for the convenience of your guests.

Smoking, alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, and weapons are not permitted anywhere on church premises.

Birdseed, glitter, rice, confetti, bubbles, or similar substances are never allowed inside the church. Bubbles can be used outside the church. Session must grant permission to throw birdseed outside the church.

"Flowers, decorations, and other appointments should be appropriate to the place of worship, enhance the worshipers’ consciousness of the reality of God, and reflect the integrity and simplicity of Christian life." [Presbyterian Church(USA) Book of Order (W-1.3034; W-1.4004-.4005; W-5.5005)]

For Sunday worship two candles in the chancel are lit, and these are available for weddings as well. A pair of floor candelabrum (7 candles per stand) may be used on either side of the communion table.

“Unity candles” are not a part of a Presbyterian wedding service, but may be used if supplied by the couple. A holder can be supplied by the church. The candle should be at least 6 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter, but the most appropriate size is 12 inches tall and 3-4 inches in diameter. If a unity candle is to be used, please bring it to the rehearsal.

sanctuary floor plan

The sanctuary seats 240 on the main floor and an additional 148 in the balcony for a total seating capacity of 400. There are 10 pews on each side of the aisle and each pew seats approximately 12 people.

Reception rooms are available with capacity for 220 guests.

Westminster does not furnish or print any wedding bulletins.

The church will be open one hour before the wedding rehearsal and one-half hour after the rehearsal.

The church will be open four hours prior to the wedding to accommodate decorating and to allow the wedding party time to dress. (Dressing rooms are available at the church).

It will be open for one and one-half hour following the wedding ceremony to allow for picture-taking and cleanup by the wedding party.

Music

The church organist plays for all weddings. Alternate arrangements (such as an outside organist, or CDs instead of live music) and all music selections must be made in consultation with, and with the approval of Westminster's pastor, to assure that the service is genuinely reverent. "Music suitable for the marriage service directs attention to God and expresses the faith of the church." [Presbyterian Church(USA) Book of Order (W-2.1004)]

Soloists and any special music arrangements must be made in consultation with the pastor.

Photography

Photographers cannot use flash during the service.
Guests cannot take pictures during the service.
Videos of the service can only be taken from the balcony.
All other arrangements must be approved prior to the wedding date.
